Jim Cotter will have a chance to win his third straight and sixth overall provincial title in this afternoon鈥檚 Canadian Direct Insurance sa国际传媒 Men鈥檚 Curling Championship.

Cotter, of Vernon, recorded a three-ender in the ninth and then ran Sean Geall, of the Royal City club in New Westminster, out of rocks in the 10th for a 5-1 win in the Page 1 vs. 2 playoff game Saturday afternoon. He advances straight to today鈥檚 4 p.m. final, to be broadcast on Sportsnet 360.

His opponent will either be Geall, who dropped down to this morning's semi-final at 11 a.m. on Sportsnet Pacific, or Dean Joanisse who defeated Glen Jackson of the Victoria Curling Club 5-2 in Saturday鈥檚 late Page 3 vs. 4 game.

Jackson, with third Andrew Komlodi, second Corey Chester and lead Joel Cave, had a 2-1 lead on Joanisse (formerly of Victoria and now of the Royal City club) after four ends at the Nelson Curling Club.

Joanisse is a two-time provincial winner, from 2001 and 2007, and the last Victoria rink to claim the provincial title in 2007. In 2001, Jackson curled as Joanisse鈥檚 second along with Jay Tuson at third and Randy Tervo at lead.

Cotter won last year鈥檚 crown with the same crew he has now 鈥擱yan Kuhn at third, Tyrel Griffith at second and Rick Sawatsky at lead. The year before he was teamed with Griffith and Sawatsky and Olympic champion John Morris.
