Right-hander Dallas Patterson tossed a three-hitter over a full seven innings, striking out three and walking three to earn a 4-0 win over the Nanaimo Junior Pirates on Friday morning.

"It was an excellent pitching performance," said Junior Mariners manager Scott Smith. "He gave up a couple of hits in that first inning and then he was lights out."

It followed on the heels of an opening 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Junior Cannons on Thursday in which Dan Phillips went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits with four strikeouts and four walks.

"It's pretty nice having gone two games and only having used two pitchers," said Smith, whose team finished fourth in the regular-season standings with a 24-20 mark, 12 games back of the 36-8 Langley Junior Blaze.

The Junior Mariners face the Blaze tonight at 7 in their third and final round-robin game of the tournament.

Semifinals are set for Sunday at 11: 30 a.m. and 2: 30 p.m., with the championship game set for 4: 30 p.m. that afternoon.
