The Rock the Shores concert took over Bear Mountain Arena on Saturday night, but the displaced Victoria Junior Shamrocks made their own music out at Panorama Recreation Centre. Getting the start they wanted in the sa国际传媒 Junior A Lacrosse League playoffs, the Shamrocks defeated the Delta Islanders 10-6 in Game 1 of their best-of-three quarter-final series.

The teams now move to Delta for the second game today at 5:30 p.m, with the third game, if necessary, to be played Tuesday at Bear Mountain. The series winner advances to meet the Langley Thunder in the second round. Langley swept Port Coquitlam 2-0 in the other quarter-final.

The key for the 鈥橰ocks on Saturday was a quick start. Jesse King, who had four goals and three assists on the night, picked up two of the team鈥檚 six markers in the first 20 minutes. The Islanders tried to claw back from their 6-1 deficit but never were able to catch Victoria.

Also scoring for Victoria were Devon Casey, Dane Schoor, Nate Wade, Chris Wardle, Justin Appels and Jordan Cunningham. Delta鈥檚 goals came from Mike Henry and Shawn Richardson, with two each, Evan Messenger and Ryan Vogrig.

Ryley Brown was between the pipes for Delta, while Cody Hagedorn went the distance in goal for the Shamrocks, who outshot the Islanders 50-43.
