Strapping Kamloops Blazers captain Jermaine Loewen, a draft pick of the Dallas Stars and a difficult load in front of the net, scored early and late Saturday night. The overage 20-year-old beat Victoria Royals rookie goaltender Brock Gould just one minute and 15 seconds into the game, and then waited nearly the duration of the game, to score again with 45 seconds remaining in regulation time to tie the Western Hockey League game 2-2.
Kamloops won the game in a shootout.
Victoria blueliner Scott Walford, who had a goal and two assists in Friday night鈥檚 4-3 victory in Kelowna, followed up with a goal on the power play and assist in Kamloops as the Montreal Canadiens third-round draft pick seems to be finding his offensive stride.
