A pair of first-quarter touchdowns from runningback Jacob Palmarin led the Kamloops Broncos to a resounding 60-11 victory over the visiting Westshore Rebels in sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Football Conference play Saturday night at Hillside Stadium.
The Rebels fall to 0-3 on the season and return home to face the 0-3 Valley Huskers on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Westhills Stadium in Langford.
Kamloops improves to 2-1 and remains in the hunt with the league front-runners, including regular stalwarts the 2-1 Vancouver Island Raiders, who lost 27-3 to the 3-0 Okanagan Sun, and the 2-1 Langley Rams, who hammered the Huskers 52-0.
Kamloops quarterback Stephen Schuweiler connected on a touchdown strike through the air with Brody Bernier to make it 20-1 early in the second quarter and the Broncos were off to the races.
The hosts led 39-1 at the half, the only Westshore point coming off a 40-yard punt from Ashton Mackinnon that went for a single.
Palmarin finished with five touchdowns for the Broncos as he continues to ride herd on the Rebels, picking up where he left off last season.
Bryce Courture kicked a 15-yard field goal in the third quarter and Mackinnon added a late one-yard TD run for the Rebels, who will go back to the drawing board to prepare for the Huskers.
