鈥淭his league [WCL] is one of the premier collegiate summer leagues in North America and the skill level is incredible. Some of the guys who play in the WCL go on to play in the majors, which means fans are going to experience an elevated level of play at Norbrock next summer,鈥 said co-owner Norm Daley.

鈥淲e have our feelers out now to build our roster of NCAA Division 1 and 2 players, and we will have the opportunity for local players to wear the NorthPaws jersey, too,鈥 said Daley.

WCL commissioner Rob Neyer welcomed the new franchise.

鈥淜amloops has a thriving atmosphere for amateur sport in sa国际传媒, so collegiate summer ball is obviously a great fit,鈥 said Neyer, who is based in Portland.

The NorthPaws in Kamloops and NightOwls in Nanaimo will both make their WCL debuts in 2021, bringing to 14 the number of franchises in sa国际传媒, Washington state and Oregon. The NightOwls, owned by the same group that owns the Victoria HarbourCats, were announced as a new franchise earlier this summer.
