Du Toit, of Kimberley Golf Club, climbed that mountain with a final round 73 to finish with a four-day total of 10-under 278 (68-68-69-73), seven strokes up on runner-up Stuart Macdonald of Point Grey and a member of the Purdue Boilermakers NCAA golf team.

Kevin Kwon of Swaneset Bay Resort was third with rounds of 72-71-75-70.

Royal Colwood junior Keaton Gudz made a hard charge with the lowest round of the day at 5-under 67 to finish sixth overall at 290, the top Vancouver Island player, just ahead of veteran Craig Doell of Victoria Golf Club.

Gudz — who actually started the day with a bogey on No. 1 but soundly recovered with birdies at 3, 5, 7, 10, 12 and 16 — finished 72-74-77-67, while Doell was tied for ninth with his rounds of 75-71-74-72.
