The Shamrocks remain undefeated at 3-0.

The Victoria Shamrocks left it late, but proved it wasn’t too late in eclipsing a five-goal deficit late in the second period to edge the host Maple Ridge Burrards 13-12 in a Western Lacrosse Association game Sunday at Cam Neely Arena. The Shamrocks remained undefeated at 3-0 and the Burrards winless at 0-2.

“We took it one minute, one goal at a time at that point because you can’t climb back all at once,” said Victoria forward Jesse King, who scored two goals on a seven-point outing.

The Claremont Spartans graduate, who played NCAA Div. 1 field lacrosse in the Big Ten for the Ohio State Buckeyes, leads the league with 12 goals and 27 points in just three games.

Cole Pickup and Jacob Ruest each had two goals and four assists and Marshal King a hat trick. Brett Kujala led the Burrards with four goals.

The Shamrocks meet the Coquitlam Adanacs (3-1) on Friday night at The Q Centre.

The Nanaimo Timbermen (1-2) play the Salmonbellies (1-2) on Thursday in New Westminster.
