COWICHAN 5
VICTORIA 4
At this point, coach Bill Bestwick is glad he doesn鈥檛 have to face the Cowichan Capitals in the sa国际传媒 Hockey League playoffs.
For the fourth time this season the Capitals dumped Bestwick鈥檚 Victoria Grizzlies, this time by a 5-4 score in overtime on Saturday at the Island Savings Centre in Duncan.
That鈥檚 now three of the last four times the Grizzlies have gone down to the Island Division basement-dwelling Caps. Cowichan had trashed Victoria 6-2 at Bear Mountain Arena on Friday.
鈥淚t鈥檚 good for them,鈥 Bestwick said prior to facing the same team for the second straight night. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e probably excited about playing us.
鈥淭he good news is we don鈥檛 have to play them in the playoffs. Hopefully, we come out and put in a better effort. Win or lose, I want to see a better effort.鈥
He got it, but he didn鈥檛 get the win.
Kyle Horsman scored a power-play goal in the extra session.
Truman Gonzalez had a pair for the Capitals, while Garrett Skrbich and Mitch Ball added singles.
Stefan Nicholishen, Dante Hahn, Myles Fitzgerald and Myles Powell replied for the Grizzlies, who were down 2-1 after one and 3-2 after 40 minutes of play, despite out-shooting Cowichan 32-12 after two periods.
Patrick Spano stood tall again in the Capitals鈥 net, stopping 44 shots. Mike Stiliadis tended goal for the Grizzlies after Brady Rouleau had suffered the loss the night previous.
