Midfielder Robson fined, suspended before match

Vancouver midfielder Barry Robson was suspended one game ahead of the Whitecaps visit to Seattle.

Vancouver midfielder Barry Robson was suspended one game ahead of the Whitecaps visit to Seattle.

Major League Soccer punished Robson for "aggravated dissent" on an assistant referee in stoppage time during Wednesday's 2-0 home loss to underdog FC Dallas.

The league also fined Robson, a Scottish international who joined in late July, an undisclosed amount.

Robson called the game the most frustrating one of his career due to the constant stops and starts as a result of fouls.

A total of 31 infractions were called - 24 on Vancouver and 17 on Dallas.

Nine players, six from Vancouver and three from Dallas, received yellow cards.
