Mount Douglas, which had its three straight provincial football championship run ended by South Delta last year, will now get a chance at a fourth in five years. The Rams will play the winner of Saturday night鈥檚 late game between Vancouver College and New Westminster.

A result was unavailable by press time.

The Rams lost 20-0 earlier this season to Vancouver College, but handled New West 28-21 in regular-season play.

鈥淭his is a team of hard-working young men who play for each other and it really showed today in a great team victory,鈥 said Rams head coach Mark Townsend.

鈥淲e are extremely proud of the effort by each player in their next-man-up attitude and in their preparation for this challenge that was put before them. The team effort and perseverance today was nothing short of outstanding.鈥

A fabulous, 52-yard halfback pass from Gavin Cobb to Oliver MacKenzie late in the third quarter was the dagger as the Rams took a 39-20 lead. They trailed just once, 7-6 early in the game as the Ravens scored on their second offensive possession.

Cobb also hauled in a 55-yard score on a pass from Grade 9 quarterback Gideone Kremler with 8:11 to go in the game.

Rams鈥 running back Declann Michielin was too much to handle, scoring twice. Mackenzie also had two majors, opening the scoring on a pass from Kremler.

Gevhahn McNally-Hardisty gave the Rams a huge lift on a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown and Manny Lopez also had an 18-yard score as he replaced Michielin in the backfield after he suffered an injury or cramping in the third quarter.

Ravens quarterback Jake Laberge ran in for one score and connected with receiver Keith Lewars on another. Big bruising Ravens鈥 running back Jeremie Kankolongo gave Terry Fox the 7-6 lead on a short run.

The Rams led 26-14 at the half.
