Panorama tennis players shine
Just like the sunshine this week, the future of Victoria tennis looks bright.
And that鈥檚 mainly thanks to nine-year-old Emily Allen.
Allen led a team from Panorama Recreation Centre into the Coromondal Loras Team Tennis Championship at the Vancouver International Tennis Academy in Richmond. Allen proceeded to cruise to a gold medal and 7-1 record, including a victory over Dawson Reid, the No. 1-ranked U-9 player in the province.
The Panorama team, led by coach Jared Martin, also got a strong showing from Michael Liu, who finished with a 5-3 match record, including wins over two top-five ranked players. Panorama was also represented by Jayda Mahal, who went 3-5 at the event, and Filbert Zhang, who finished with a 2-5-1 record.
