The best riders in sa国际传媒 are set to invade Nanaimo for the 2015 Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals series.
After Round 1 in Kamloops last weekend, the series stops at Nanaimo鈥檚 Wastelands on Sunday. And leading the way for the home province is Aldergrove鈥檚 Colton Facciotti. The No. 1-ranked Canadian rider heading into the series is already on the Island training, and today fans can catch him at the Westshore Motocross track performing demos under the watchful eye of Teams Honda sa国际传媒. Facciotti will be at the track, which is located at Western Speedway, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Then on Sunday, Facciotti and the rest of the top riders from sa国际传媒 and the U.S. turn their attention to Sunday. There will be competition in MX1, MX2 and minis. Action begins at 9 a.m. and runs until 5 p.m.
Following the Nanaimo stop, the 10-event series moves to Wild Rose Park in Calgary June 14.
Underdog triumphs at Rip Curl Tofino
There were big waves and a big upset at the ninth Annual Rip Curl Pro Tofino surfing championships in Cox Bay last weekend.
Causing waves of his own was California darkhorse Noah Wegrich of Santa Cruz. The American upset hometown favourite and defending champion Peter Devries of Tofino by a mere .63 points to claim the Men鈥檚 Pro division title. Devries did retain his award as the highest-placing Canadian.
To complete the California sweep in the pro events, Sara Taylor of Newport Beach won the Women鈥檚 Pro event, while 12-year-old crowd favourite Mathea Olin of Tofino won the top Canadian title. Olin capped her impressive weekend by adding a second-place finish in the Women鈥檚 Longboard division, and winning the overall title in the U-16 division.

Okell turns attention to Nasport Lites
Victoria race car driver Bill Okell is on a break from the Sports Car Club of America Majors Tour competition, but that doesn鈥檛 mean he isn鈥檛 behind the wheel.
Okell is taking his recently repaired MGB to Mazda Raceway in Laguna Seca for the first race of the season in the SCCA鈥檚 Nasport Lite Series. Okell is the four-time defending champ of the series.
