Provincial titles will be on the line this weekend as more than 700 swimmers from around sa国际传媒 and the Yukon invade Saanich Commonwealth Place for the Swim sa国际传媒 triple-A long course championships.
The event runs from Friday through Sunday and is hosted by Pacific Coast Swimming.
Swimmers ranging in age from 9 to 20 will be trying to qualify for the age-group national championships in Quebec City and the Canadian Summer Nationals in Point-Claire, Que.
Races will take place from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with finals starting at 5:15 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Victoria players among softball鈥檚 best
Victoria鈥檚 top softball players will be front and centre at Softball City in Surrey for the next 10 days as the Canadian Open Fastpitch International Championships gets going on Friday.
The Vancouver Island Impact 98, Victoria Devils 97, Victoria Devils 2000, Vancouver Island Impact 99 and Central Saanich Extreme will take part in the massive tournament, which is designed to allow college and university scouts from sa国际传媒 and the U.S. to see all the top players square off against each other.
The tournament is highlighted by the Women鈥檚 International division which showcases national teams from around the world.
The Vancouver Island Impact 98 and Devils 97 will play in the Futures Gold division (U-18), while the Devils 2000 and Impact 99 will take part in the Showcase Gold division (U-16). The Extreme will be the Showcase Select division (U-16).
The Devils 97 open play Sunday against the Cascade Crush from Washington, while the Impact 98 begin play Monday against the White Rock Renegades 97.
The Impact 99 and Devils 2000 open their tournament on Monday. The Impact will face the Surrey Storm Gold, while the Devils will play the Ridge Meadows Pride 2000.
Central Saanich begins play on Saturday against the South Surrey Thunder 99.

Tyson Barrie gives back to elementary school
An elementary school in the West Shore is going to have a gymnasium equipment room full of new equipment next fall, thanks to a rising NHL star.
Langford product Tyson Barrie, a defenceman with the Colorado Avalanche who helped sa国际传媒 to a gold medal at the recent world hockey championship, has donated more than $6,000 to David Cameron Elementary, the school Barrie once attended. The funds will be used to buy new jerseys for the school鈥檚 athletic teams and new gym equipment such has floor hockey sticks and nets.
David Cameron is on the border of Colwood and Langford.
Grizzlies seeking billet families
With just seven returning players, the Victoria Grizzlies will have plenty of new faces when the puck drops for the sa国际传媒 Hockey League season in early September.
And that means a few more billet families will be needed. If you live in the West Shore and would be willing to bring one of the players into your family, the Grizzlies would like to hear from you. Billet families receive monetary compensation as well as season tickets.
