TripleShot Cycling Club鈥檚 youth stars shone brightly at the recent Canadian Junior Track Championships at the Mattamy Cycling Centre in Milton, Ont.
Riley Pickrell, Sarah Van Dam and Erin Attwell all won multiple medals at the three-day event.
Attwell, who attends Maria Montessori School and trains with Cycling sa国际传媒鈥檚 NextGen Program at the Westshore Velodrome, won two gold medals and three silver and also qualified to represent sa国际传媒 at the 2016 World Junior Track Cycling Championships on July 20-24 in Aigle, Switzerland. Pickrell, who attends Claremont, brought home four gold medals and two silvers, while Oak Bay High鈥檚 Van Dam won five gold medals.
Eves of Destruction hit the floor
They鈥檒l be strapping on the blades at Archie Browning Sports Centre this weekend. And not the sharp, stainless steal variety.
The Eves of Destruction Roller Derby club kicks off its season with a Battle of the Rock double-header on Saturday at 5 p.m. Belles of the Brawl from the host club will get things started with a battle against Nanaimo鈥檚 Harbour City Rollers, while the Eves of Destruction鈥檚 No. 1 squad, Margarita Villains, takes on the Rink Minx from Campbell River.
Other double-header home match days for Eves of Destruction this season include May 21, June 25, July 9 and Sept. 27.
Tickets for the matches are available in advance at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre as well as Logan鈥檚 Pub, Hive hair and online at . Tickets will also be available at the door before to the event.
Falcon gymnasts shine at provincials
Falcon Gymnastics competitive team ventured to Langley recently for the sa国际传媒 Artistic Gymnastics Championships and several members brought home medals.
Kiana Pheiffer led the way with an overall provincial title in J07 2000 category. Pheiffer won an individual silver on the floor and bronze on the beam en route to her overall victory.
Jordan Reilly used silver medals on the floor and bars to claim an overall bronze in the J06 2002 division, and Emily Schmidt took overall bronze in the J08 division, thanks to a gold medal on the beam.
