Baseball sa国际传媒 announced its team for the upcoming U-17 sa国际传媒 Cup this week and several Eagles have taken flight.
Four Victoria Eagles and one Victoria Mariner are among the 20 players who will represent the province at the U-17 sa国际传媒 Cup, which is slated for Moncton, N.B., from Aug. 8-12. Dawson Clark, Brad Cox and Gavin Pringle of the Premier Eagles, Noah Takacs of the Junior Premier Eagles and Josh Walker of the Premier Mariners will all be sporting sa国际传媒 colours. Jayden Cull of the Premier Eagles was named an alternate for the team.
The players were selected from the 47 players who attended the recent Baseball sa国际传媒 tryout camp in White Rock.
U-14 tennis stars at Bear Mountain
Some of the top young tennis players in the province will be showcasing their skill at the Bear Mountain Tennis Centre this weekend, and trying to punch their tickets to the national championships.
The Davis Trading sa国际传媒 U-14 Outdoor Tennis Championships takes place Friday through Sunday up at the new Bear Mountain courts. It will feature the top 16 ranked U-14 players in the province and the winners from the weekend will represent sa国际传媒 at next month鈥檚 Rogers Outdoor Junior Canadian Championships in Mount Tremblant, Que.
And playing in his own backyard this weekend will be 13-year-old Zach Scott. Victoria鈥檚 Scott will be making his debut at the U-14 level after finishing seventh at the U-12 outdoor nationals last year.
Action this weekend will feature girls and boys singles as well as doubles play.
Reaume on track in Kentucky
Victoria driver Josh Reaume overcame a few late obstacles to have another strong finish at last weekend鈥檚 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series stop.
Reaume, behind the wheel of his Colonial Countertops Chevrolet Silverado, qualified 26 for the Buckle-up 225 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky, but managed to move up and finish 23rd.
Next up for Reaume, as the series begins the second half of the season, is this Saturday鈥檚 stop at Pocono Speedway in Pennsylvania.
Noble new sa国际传媒 Games boss
A former University of Victoria employee will help spearhead the next sa国际传媒 Winter and Summer Games.
Alison Noble, who spent recent years in government and relations at UVic, has been named the new president and CEO of sa国际传媒 Games Society.
Noble, who is no stranger to the sa国际传媒 Games Society, having acted as director of community and corporate relations for the organization from 1990 to 1996, was director of operations for the recent Invictus Games in Toronto.
Noble will replace Kelly Mann, who is stepping down as head of sa国际传媒 Games Society after 19 years.
