Nationally top-ranked UVic upset in sa国际传媒 West men's basketball

UBC-Okanagan (6-14) recorded the biggest upset of the sa国际传媒 West men’s basketball season by beating the University of Victoria Vikes (15-3), ranked No. 1 in sa国际传媒, 86-83 in Kelowna Saturday night.

Conference leading scorer Diego Maffia scored 24 points for UVic, rookie Renoldo Robinson 19 points and sophomore Elias Ralph 15. Liban Yousef led upstart UBC-O with 19 points as the Okanagan side earned an unlikely split against the U Sports national top-ranked Vikes.

In the sa国际传媒 West women’s game, the UVic Vikes (8-10) defeated UBC-Okanagan (10-10) 66-59 to earn a split of the two-game set in Kelowna. Kate Johnson and Abigail Becker scored 21 points each for UVic.

The Vikes teams visit War Memorial Gym in Vancouver to play their UBC Thunderbird counterparts on Thursday before hosting the Thunderbirds at CARSA Gymnasium next Saturday.
