The Cullen Cup sa国际传媒 championship game rematch was everything junior football fans expected at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna on Saturday night.

The Okanagan Suns gained revenge against the defending sa国际传媒 Football Conference champion Westshore Rebels with a tense 19-15 victory in the 2017 season opener.

Westshore jumped into a 14-0 lead, but the Sun roared back and the game was tied 14-14 at the half.

The Vancouver Island Raiders, meanwhile, opened with a 20-13 victory over the Langley Rams.

The Kamloops Broncos blitzed the Fraser Valley Huskers 41-8 in the league鈥檚 other season curtain-raiser on Saturday.

The Rebels, who lost to the Saskatoon Hilltops in last year's Canadian junior football championship game, travel to Nanaimo next Saturday afternoon for the Island derby matinee against the Raiders at Caledonia Park.
