Pacific FC is hailing the acquisition of striker Alejandro Diaz as the club鈥檚 biggest signing of the off-season. Maybe even of the entire Canadian Premier League.
Mexico is the top nation in men鈥檚 soccer in CONCACAF and Pacific FC has dipped into that ample pro pool to land Diaz for the 2020 CPL season.
鈥淚t is arguably the biggest signing in the history of the league,鈥� said Pacific FC GM and CEO Rob Friend.

He has played in front of 100,000 fans with Club America, which is one of the biggest clubs in the Americas, and among the top-100 clubs in the world. Playing at that level is impressive. We are very fortunate to have secured such a young, dynamic and motivated player and we can鈥檛 wait to see what he can do for Pacific FC.鈥�
The 24-year-old native of Mexico City came up through the academy system of Club America and played in 26 games for the first team and scored one goal. He has a total of 56 appearances in the Mexican pro level with Club America, Necaxa and Atlas of the top-tier Liga MX and most recently for second-division Zacatepec.
鈥淎lejandro is an ambitious and talented player with experience from Club America,鈥� said PFC head coach Pa-Modou Kah, a 10-time capped Norwegian national team player, who played pro all over the world.
Mexican national teams are not easy to make but Diaz played for Mexico鈥檚 U-17 and U-20 sides with seven goals in 19 games, including with the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 championship squad.

The signing of Diaz brings to 14 the number of players Pacific FC has under contract for 2020.
