It will be a rematch of the 2021 Canadian Premier League championship game when Pacific FC opens its 2022 CPL season April 10 in a marquee match-up against Forge FC at Starlight Stadium in Langford.

PFC defeated two-time champion and host Forge FC 1-0 in the 2021 CPL final Dec. 5 at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ont.

The other 2022 CPL openers have the HFX Wanderers of Halifax at York United on April 7, Cavalry FC of Calgary at Atletico Ottawa on April 9 and Valour FC of Winnipeg at FC Edmonton on April 10.

The full CPL schedule will be released today.

Each team will play four games against the other seven teams, two at home and two away, resulting in 14 home league matches in each market.

Each CPL team will play 28 league games with the top four finishers advancing to the two-leg playoff semifinals Oct. 15 and Oct. 22. The single-game CPL final will be held Oct. 29 at the home of the highest remaining seed.

The eight CPL teams will also play in the Canadian Championship for the Voyageurs Cup against the country’s three Major League Soccer teams Vancouver Whitecaps, CF Montreal and Toronto FC.

Pacific FC, as defending CPL champion, will also play this year in CONCACAF League.
