The Parksville Royals will join the North Shore Twins, Langley Blaze, Abbotsford Cardinals and host Coquitlam Reds in the sa国际传媒 Premier Baseball League鈥檚 Final Five playoff tournament beginning Thursday in Coquitlam.
The Royals rode the stellar pitching of Josh Laukkanen to a 3-2 victory Sunday in the third-and-deciding game of their best-of-three quarter-final series against the Victoria Mariners. Laukkanen held the Mariners to one hit and two unearned runs. The Royals scored one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth before closer Robbie Dhut faced three batters in the seventh to earn the save.
Game 1 went into extra innings with the Mariners taking a 3-2 lead in the top of the eighth inning. Parksville tied it in the bottom of the eighth before Shane Rogers smashed a three-run walk-off homer for the 6-3 Royals victory.
The Mariners blanked the Royals 3-0 in Game 2 as Fynn Chester of the M鈥檚 pitched a complete-game no-hitter with seven strikeouts while Baltimore Orioles draft-pick Jason Willow of the Mariners went three-for-three at the plate with two runs scored. 鈥攕a国际传媒
