The Westshore Rebels and Vancouver Island Raiders are headed in opposite directions, and it showed Saturday afternoon at Caledonia Park in Nanaimo.
The Raiders struck early and often against the Rebels, winning 32-17 on their home turf.
It was the Raiders’ fourth straight sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Football Conference victory, improving their record to 4-1.
The Rebels, meanwhile, got the Shane Beatty era off to a rocky start, losing their second straight game, dropping to 1-2-1 on the season. Mason Brown and Ashton MacKinnon scored late fourth-quarter touchdowns for the Rebels to make the score respectable, as the Raiders led 25-3 at the half.
Next up for the Rebels is a true four-pointer against the Kamloops Broncos on Saturday afternoon at Westhills Stadium in Langford. The game is worth four points after the first game between the two clubs last month was cancelled due to poor air quality in Kamloops as a result of forest fires. The Raiders have a date with the Okanagan Sun on Saturday at the Apple Bowl in Kelowna.
