GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Reds first baseman Joey Votto says his knee feels fine and he's decided to go ahead and play for sa国际传媒 in the World Baseball Classic.
Votto got the last spot on sa国际传媒's team, but wanted to waited to see how his left knee felt after a couple weeks of spring training before making a commitment. He had surgery to repair torn cartilage last season, and wasn't full strength when he returned for the end of last season.
Votto made his decision on Monday after talking to team officials and manager Dusty Baker, who says he trusts the first baseman's judgment. Votto expects to be a designated hitter and split time at first base with Justin Morneau.
