With the Games of summer done, the Victoria Royals figure it's time to look ahead to some games in winter.
The Western Hockey League club has announced individual-game tickets for all its home games - including the lone exhibition contest Sept. 15 against the Vancouver Giants, regular-season home-opener Sept. 22 against the Giants and the Royals-hosted Subway Super Series game Nov. 14 between the WHL all-stars and Russian juniors - go on sale Aug. 30 at 9: 30 a.m.
The Royals intra-squad game, which concludes training camp, is Aug. 29 with admission by donation.
The Royals also announced the continuation of its Never a Wasted Seat policy for season-ticket holders, who can turn in up to four tickets not used for previous games in exchange for tickets to upcoming games.
"We had it for the [ECHL] Salmon Kings, then went away from it for a bit before bringing it back last season. The season-ticket holders love it," said Royals president Dave Dakers.
Dakers, also president of sports and entertainment for RG Properties which owns the Royals and manages Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre, said he is optimistic about this season's hockey box office.
"We averaged about 5,400 fans per game last season [for the Royals] and are shooting for between 5,600 and 5,800 this season," he said.
Dakers added that the numerous Island athletes who competed in the recent 2012 London Summer Olympics, and who will compete in the London Paralympics, will be honoured during a Royals game this season.
"I loved watching the Summer Games, especially the kayak and canoe events, because I used to do a bit of that," said Dakers.
Tickets are available at the Memorial Centre box office, selectyourtickets.com or 250-220-7777.
