With their season and West Coast Senior Lacrosse Association debut set for the end of the month, the newly formed Victoria Wolves purchased the playing rights to a handful of local players from the defending champion Nanaimo Timbermen.

Wolves president and governor Chris Jackson announced the deal that general manager Rick Sanderson completed over the weekend, acquiring former Senior A Shamrock Adam Brown, James Spence, Drew Miles, Chris O鈥橦ara and Devon Casey.

鈥淢y general manager pulled this one off,鈥 said Jackson, who currently has 51 players in camp, including six goalies. 鈥淲e鈥檙e hoping Adam will be one of our best players. They鈥檙e all from Victoria and we鈥檙e hoping to build our team all with local guys.鈥

The group will be whittled down to a roster of 25 by mid-month. Camp began with an open invitation on March 4 at Eagle Ridge Arena and then moved to dry-land training session and evaluations from March 10-30.

The Wolves will play a scrimmage at Eagle Ridge on April 13 and have an exhibition game against the Timbermen in Nanaimo on April 21.

The Wolves will then face the Valley Rebels and Royal City Capitals on the road to start their first Senior B campaign, April 29 and 30, before playing six straight home games at The Q Centre, beginning May 8 when the Ladner Pioneers venture into Colwood.

The team will sport the black and gold colours of the New Orleans Saints of the NFL.
