The Mann Cup champion Victoria Shamrocks added more experience on Thursday, securing Paul Brebber from the Nanaimo Timbermen in a trade for a second-round 2018 draft pick.
Entering his fourth Western Lacrosse Association season, the six-foot-one, 195-pound offensive transition player had 43 goals and 78 points in 49 games.
Brebber, 25, is a right-hander from Nanaimo who lives and works in Victoria year-round. He was Nanaimo鈥檚 first pick in the 2013 draft after playing junior lacrosse in Victoria in 2012.
鈥淚 am looking forward to the opportunity to wear a Shamrocks jersey again. I got to finish my junior career here and a chance to be part of this great organization,鈥 Brebber said in a statement. 鈥淚 am excited to meet the guys on the team next month at training camp and start getting prepared to follow up a championship season.鈥
鈥淭he first thing I like about the trade is the character of Paul, he is a hard worker with a scoring touch,鈥 Shamrocks head coach Bob Heyes said in a statement. 鈥淪econdly, he offers good size and grit up front.鈥
Brebber will not have to wait long to face his former teammates as the Shamrocks open their WLA season at home on May 20 against the Timbermen.
CLOVER POINTS: Jesse King鈥檚 younger brother, Marshall King, was among the 24 players named to sa国际传媒鈥檚 roster for the upcoming Federation of International Lacrosse U-19 Men鈥檚 Lacrosse World Championship taking place July 7-16, 2016 in Coquitlam.
