The Victoria Shamrocks (2-1) outpaced the Burnaby Lakers (0-3) by a 17-7 count in a Western Lacrosse Association game Friday night at The Q Centre.
Tom Vaesen led Victoria with six goals and two assists for eight points. Marshal King also had eight points on five goals and three assists. Cole Pickup added a hat-trick on a five-point night before 1,642 fans.
The Shamrocks led 6-4 after the first period and 14-6 after the second.
The game marked the return of veterans King, Dallas Wade and Cory Conway to the Shamrocks lineup along with rookie Casey Wilson from the NCAA Div. 1 University of Denver, who will represent sa国际传媒 at the world championship tournament this month in San Diego.
The Shamrocks host the Coquitlam Adanacs next Friday at The Q Centre.
Meanwhile, the Nanaimo Timbermen (1-1), who made the WLA final last season for the first time since 1968, play the defending league champion Langley Thunder (2-1) today at 5 p.m. in Frank Crane Arena in a reprise of the 2022 WLA final.
