The Victoria Shamrocks rallied for their first victory of the Western Lacrosse Association season by defeating the Nanaimo Timbermen in the Island derby Thursday night at Frank Crane Arena in the Harbour City.
The Shamrocks, who began the season with three consecutive losses, trailed 9-8 in the third period before scoring the final four goals to beat the Timbermen 12-9.
Defensive specialist Ben McCullough scored unassisted at 14:15 of the third period to tie the contest 9-9. Rookie second-round draft-pick Larson Sundown put Victoria in the lead at 15:30. Dallas Wade recorded the insurance goal at 16:01 before Steve Priolo scored into an empty net at 19:53.
Veteran sniper Casey Jackson led the Shamrocks with two goals and two assists, while rookie Keegan Bell, Victoria’s first-round pick in the 2019 WLA draft, had a goal and four assists. Sundown and Priolo finished with two goals each. Colton Clark led Nanaimo (2-1) with a hat trick. — sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½
