The race for first place in the Western Lacrosse Association will come down to the final weekend after the Victoria Shamrocks pounded out a 14-6 road victory over the Coquitlam Adanacs on Saturday night.
It was the third game in four nights for the Shamrocks while Coquitlam, eliminated from playoff contention, last played on Tuesday in a 9-7 loss at Burnaby.
Corey Small had a first-period hat-trick for the Shamrocks and finished with five goals and two assists for the victors. Jesse King added four goals and three helpers, and Rhys Duch had a tally and four assists.
Max Cullen, Paul Brebber, Ian McShane and Doug Langlois also scored for Victoria, now 12-4 on the regular season and second in the league to the New Westminster Salmonbellies (12-3-2), who have just one game remaining, which they play today.
Marty Dinsdale, with a hat-trick, Ryan Johnson, Brian Gillis and Steve McKinlay replied for the Adanacs.
New West is on a five-game win streak and a 14-game undefeated run. The last time the Salmonbellies lost was May 27 when the Shamrocks won 11-9.
Victoria wraps its regular season at home on Friday to Nanaimo and back in Coquitlam on Saturday.
