The Golden State Warriors can shove over.

There鈥檚 another defending champion that knows how to fashion comebacks.

For the second night in a row, the Victoria Shamrocks rallied for a Western Lacrosse Association victory. Trailing 4-1 early in the second period on Saturday in the Island derby at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo, the Shamrocks defeated the Timbermen 13-11.

Victoria rebounded from a 7-4 deficit in the second period Friday to beat New Westminster 11-9 at the Q Centre.

鈥淲e have confidence we can come back in those situations,鈥 Victoria coach Bob Heyes said.

鈥淚t comes down to hard work and experience.鈥

The defending Mann Cup national champion Shamrocks moved to 3-0 while the Timbermen fell to 1-2, with both those losses against Victoria.

Jeff Shattler, one of the finest two-way players in the game, arrived on the Island just before the game after his NLL pro commitments with the Calgary Roughnecks. Shattler made an immediate impact with two goals and five assists for Victoria. Rhys Duch added three goals and three assists, and has 22 points after three games. Also scoring for Victoria were Cory Conway, Paul Brebber, Chris Wardle, Ian McShane, Myles Kenny, Steve Higgs, Tyler Burton and Ethan Garland. Ryan Lee and Randy Jones led Nanaimo with three goals each.

Victoria set-up man Conway鈥檚 torrid record-setting run finally came to an end. He set the WLA standards for most points (17) and assists (15) in a game in the opening 18-6 victory over Nanaimo last week. With his four assists Friday against New Westminster, Conway also eclipsed the record for most assists in two consecutive WLA games (19) to break the old record of 17 held by former Shamrocks set-up great Rick Brown in 1993 and former Timbermen star Brian Evans in 1978.

Conway had three assists on Saturday, which leaves him one shy of Brown鈥檚 record of 23 assists in three consecutive games in 1993. Conway is tied for second, with Evans from 1978, with 22 assists over three consecutive games.
