The Victoria Royals winless streak in the Western Hockey League spiralled to 12 games Friday night in Everett, Washington.
The Western Conference-leading Silvertips (31-7-4) defeated the Royals 4-2 at Angel of the Winds Arena.
Everett outshot Victoria 62-23 as Royals goaltender Campbell Arnold stood tall in doing his part to blunt the onslaught.
The Royals (12-24-5) opened scoring on the power play on a goal by San Jose Sharks-drafted defenceman Gannon Laroque at 3:28 of the second period.
Four consecutive Everett goals by Niko Huuhtanen, Michal Gut, Ben Hemmerling and Aidan Sutter sealed Victoria’s fate in the second period, despite Anthony Wilson pulling one back for the Royals in the final minute of the middle period.
The Royals return to the Island to meet the Western Conference second-place Kamloops Blazers tonight and Sunday at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre. The Blazers faced the Giants in Langley on Friday night.
