Victoria defenceman Lee Baldwin said the Victoria Grizzlies have been working hard all year, and now it's time to show it. The Grizzlies have a message to pass along to the Cowichan Valley Capitals and Nanaimo Clippers, who'll be fighting it out in the first round of Island Division playoffs for the right to meet the Grizzlies in the second round, which starts March 6.
"We want to put an impression in their minds of what we're going to be like in the playoffs," Baldwin said. "We want to play playoff hockey, and get ready."
With five games remaining in the regular sa国际传媒 Hockey League season, the Grizzlies are home to the Alberni Valley Bulldogs tonight at Bear Mountain Arena, then entertain Cowichan Valley tomorrow night. On Sunday, the Grizz are up in Nanaimo.
"We want to give our all," Baldwin said. "We want to just really come together."
Victoria clinched the Island Division on the road last weekend, and are neck-and-neck with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Vernon Vipers for the BCHL title. The Grizzlies (38-13-1-3) also have a few milestones on the near horizon. They're one victory away from tying franchise records of 39 wins, and 82 points, set in 2006-07, and they're aiming high.
Game times at Bear Mountain are 7:30 p.m. tonight, and 7:10 p.m. tomorrow.
