Surf鈥檚 up, dude and dudettes, and Tofino is the place to be this weekend as the Canadian National Surfing Championships take place at Cox Bay today and Sunday.
The nation鈥檚 best surfers will crash the waves at the Canadian Surfing Association sanctioned Rip Curl Pro Tofino event with more than 100 registered surfers set to compete in nine divisions. More than $30,000 in cash and prizes is up for grabs.
Surfers will compete in the Pro Men, Pro Women, Masters and Longboard divisions.
Top Canadian surfers Peter Devries, Noah Cohen and Leah Oke are among the competitors.
鈥淚n its seventh year, the Rip Curl Pro Tofino brings sa国际传媒鈥檚 surf community together with a festival atmosphere in a supernatural setting,鈥 event organizer Myrosha Daley said in a statement. 鈥淭he event offers more than just competition, including surfboard demos, beach games, live music and shoreline clean up.鈥
Rip Curl Pro Tofino starts today at 7 a.m. and runs through Sunday afternoon and is hoping to attract crowds of all ages.
