Victoria Grizzlies snipers Matthew Wood and Ellis Rickwood will not get a chance to showcase their talents at the sa国际传媒 Hockey League’s all-star festivities next month in Penticton.

On Thursday the league announced it was cancelling its 60th anniversary weekend due to the increased provincial health restrictions surrounding the spike in COVID-19 cases in the province.

The BCHL had planned a 3-on-3 all-star game and alumni game, as well as a Top Prospects Game Jan. 14-16 at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

“We are disappointed for our loyal fans that were planning on attending the event, but we feel the worst for the 50 players who were set to participate in the weekend’s festivities,” BCHL commissioner Chris Hebb said in a statement.

“We are grateful to all our event and league partners who supported us and are eager to work with them again next year to make the event even bigger and better.”

Next year’s event is also slated to be held in Penticton.
