After trailing 7-3 going to the top of the eighth inning, the HarbourCats scored three runs in the inning thanks to three AppleSox errors, including two on back-to-back ground balls by third baseman Reagan Teegarden, but they could get no closer and were beaten 7-6 by the AppleSox.
It was the Applesox (4-4) third straight win over the HarbourCats (4-5) and the two teams will wrap up their series tonight in Wenatchee.
Victoria product Ethan Skuija, a sophomore at UBC, started for the HarbourCats but lasted just three innings, giving up four earned runs.
Jarrod Molnaa made his first start for the AppleSox and went seven innings to pick up the win.
Third baseman Cole Weiss sparked the HarbourCats’ offence with a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning. Leadoff hitter Harry Shipley also had a strong game, going 3-for-5 at the plate.
