The Victoria HarbourCats continued giving up an avalanche of runs in dropping their third consecutive West Coast League game with a 6-4 loss to the Walla Walla Sweets before 1,780 fans on Friday night at Royal Athletic Park.
That followed 12-4 and 14-4 losses to the Corvallis Knights, also at Royal Athletic Park, on Wednesday and Thursday as Victoria has been outscored 32-12 in its three-game skid.
Victoria starter Jack Owen left his team in good shape Friday night by holding Walla Walla scoreless over five full innings with two hits allowed and five strikeouts and three walks. But the 鈥機ats bullpen could not hold. Indigo Diaz took the brunt of it, giving up four earned runs in 11脷3 innings of work.
Jake Garella homered for Victoria (9-11) and finished with two hits, three RBIs and two runs scored for the HarbourCats. Ethan Lopez from the University of Hawaii Rainbows also had two hits for Victoria.
The HarbourCats and Sweets (9-7) conclude their three-game set tonight and Sunday afternoon at Royal Athletic Park.
