Tristan Mandur accomplished a major feat Friday afternoon, winning the 2016 sa国际传媒 Junior Boys Golf Championship on his home course at Arbutus Ridge, wrapping up the title with a final round of 2-under 68 for a 279 total.

Mandur, who last month claimed the Zone 5 championship, out-legged national junior team member A.J. Ewart of Pitt Meadows by a single stroke. Adam Veenstra 鈥 of Smithers, but also a Shawnigan Lake School graduate 鈥 was third, two more shots back. Mandur, Ewart and Veenstra now form Team sa国际传媒 for the Canadian championship in Newfoundland Aug. 1-4.

鈥淚t feels incredible, I mean, to win it on my home soil it means even more. I鈥檝e worked really hard this year and it feels good for it to pay off,鈥 said Mandur.

Mandur recorded five birdies and three bogeys on the day and turned in rounds of 70-71-70-68 for the victory. He was running neck-and-neck (one shot up at the turn) with Zone 5 teammate Keaton Gudz of Royal Colwood until Gudz suffered a nightmarish nine on the par-4 11th as he sent two shots out of bounds to take him out of it.

It was that type of week for Gudz, who suffered a quadruple-bogey eight on the par-4 sixth hole in Round 1 and a triple-bogey six on the par-3 17th on Day 2.

In Round 3, Gudz had turned in a tidy 1-under 69 as he and Duncan鈥檚 Callum Davison were the only two to break 70 on a cool and wet Thursday. Gudz had it to 5-under after 10 holes on Friday.

Mandur, Gudz, Nolan Thoroughgood and Cam Bourque also helped Zone 5 take the team title after three rounds. Mandur and Veenstra, who were also schoolmates, tied for top spot in the best-ball crown with Gudz and Ewart.

Meanwhile, at the sa国际传媒 Womens鈥 Amateur at Beach Grove Golf Club, Jisoo Keel of Coquitlam ran away with a six-shot victory over Mary Parsons of Mayfair Lakes.

Keel recorded rounds of 70-68-69-73 for a 280 total and the win. Jamie Huo, who lists Kent., Washington, as home, but is affiliated with Uplands Golf Club, was third at 291 (73-71-74-73).
