True to form, the Mount Douglas Rams kept their undefeated record intact on Friday afternoon, defeating the Reynolds Roadrunners 73-39 to claim the senior boys鈥� triple-A South Island basketball championship on home court.
鈥淩eynolds held it tight in the first half and made some big shots,鈥� Rams coach Chris Ball said. 鈥淲e cleaned some things up defensively near the end of the first half and into the second.鈥�
Harjot Gill led the Rams 鈥� who had gone through league play at 10-0 鈥� with 21 points in the win.
The rejuvenated Vic High School team toppled Stelly鈥檚 61-53 to grab the third spot available for the Island championship, slated for Feb. 25-27 at Nanaimo District.
In double-A boy鈥檚 play, the Lambrick Lions defeated the St. Michaels University School Blue Jags 50-39 in the South Island championship.
The Islands will be held Feb. 25-27 with Parkland joining the Blue Jags and Lambrick Park at SMUS, courtesy of a 68-53 win over Pacific Christian, which will play Glenlyon Norfolk School today for the fourth berth.
In senior girls鈥� play, the Oak Bay Breakers defeated G.P. Vanier 79-46 in the first semi-final of the triple-A Island championship at Claremont. The host Spartans defeated Dover Bay 67-50 in the other.
The final goes Saturday night at 6.
