Defending champion Akari Hayashi will be in the field of 54 as the Zone 5 women鈥檚 championship tees off Monday and Tuesday at Highland Pacific Golf Course and Gorge Vale Golf Club, respectively.

Hayashi, of Uplands Golf Club, claimed the 2016 amateur crown and is paired up with veterans Penny Baziuk of Ardmore and Alison Murdoch of Victoria Golf Course as the trio leads off play Monday at 10 a.m.

Women will also be competing in the senior and a handicap division.

Last year鈥檚 winner in the handicap division, Marianne Hunt of Cowichan Golf Club, will also return to defend her title and tees off at 11:10 a.m. along with clubmate Mel Spoor and Glenda Barrett.

On Tuesday, the order of play will be reversed, with the handicap division teeing off first followed by the amateur and senior divisions.

The winners from the amateur and senior divisions earn the right to represent the zone at the sa国际传媒 championships and could ultimately advance to nationals. Last year, Baziuk was one of three members of the team that represented sa国际传媒 at Canadians.

Baziuk and Murdoch also won the team zone competition at the sa国际传媒 Seniors.
