The UBC Thunderbirds moved to 2-0 with a 94-76 sa国际传媒 West men’s basketball victory over the University of Victoria Vikes (1-1) on Saturday night at War Memorial Gym. The Vikes led 45-41 at the half.
The Vikes opened the sa国际传媒 West season with a 104-66 victory over the Trinity Western Spartans in a late-finishing game Friday night at the Langley Events Centre. Forward Matthew Ellis led UVic with 23 points while guard Diego Maffia added 20 points. Dominick Oliveri hauled in eight boards.
The UVic Vikes women’s basketball team (1-1), which lost 73-66 in overtime in their opening game against Trinity Western on Friday in Langley, rebounded with a last-shot 74-72 victory over the Thunderbirds on Saturday evening at UBC.
The Vikes’ sa国际传媒 West home openers are next Friday and Saturday at CARSA Gym against UBC-Okanagan.
