The Fraser Valley Huskers (6-3) upended the Westshore Rebels (6-3) by a 28-10 count Saturday in Chilliwack to move into a second-place tie with the Rebels in the sa国际传媒 Football Conference. The Rebels led 3-0 at the half in the defensive affair before the Huskers scored two converted touchdowns to take a 14-3 lead at the end of the third quarter in what was a possible playoff preview of a semifinal match-up.
The defending Canadian Bowl national champion Langley Rams (5-5) concluded their regular season by defeating the Prince George Kodiaks (1-8) 29-16 to solidify their hold on the fourth and the final playoff position, although the fifth-place Kamloops Broncos (4-4) have two games in hand. The Broncos play the league-leading and undefeated Okanagan Sun (8-0) Sunday and the Huskers next Saturday.
The Vancouver Island Raiders (1-8), who will miss the playoffs, had a bye week. The Raiders and Rebels meet next Saturday in the Island derby at Starlight Stadium to close out their regular-season accounts.
Each team plays 10 games in the regular season, which concludes next weekend, with the top four teams advancing to the playoff semifinals Oct. 15. The Cullen Cup BCFC championship game is scheduled for Oct. 22 at the home of the highest-remaining seed. The BCFC champion will play the Ontario Football Conference champion Oct. 29 in the national semifinal with the winner advancing to the Canadian Bowl national championship game to be hosted Nov. 12 by the champion of the Prairie Football Conference.
