The Giants moved to 16-6-2 while the Royals lost their second consecutive game to fall to 12-8.

Veteran forward Milos Roman gave the Giants the jump with his 12th goal of the season, on the power play at 10:46 of the first period. Davis Koch and blueliner and projected 2019 NHL first-round draft pick Bowen Byram drew the assists.

Koch extended that to a two-goal lead. Former Royals forward Jared Dmytriw, now captain of the Giants, rubbed it in with an unassisted short-handed goal to make it 3-0. Tanner Sidaway scored for Victoria to ruin Trent Miner鈥檚 shutout bid late in the third period.

The Royals face the Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday at Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
