The Victoria Shamrocks are bringing Brentwood Bay product Cory Conway back for the 2016 Western Lacrosse Association season.
Conway, 29, is expected to provide offence for the Mann Cup-champion Shamrocks, as he has over his three seasons in the green and white. Last year he finished fifth in league scoring with 12 goals and 55 assists in 18 games.
One of the best passers in the WLA, Conway will enter his seventh year in the league, in which he has finished in the top five in points five times, including placing second three times. Six times he has led the league in assists, recording 331 helpers in 102 career games.
In the playoffs, Conway 鈥 once named a first-team all-star and adding two second-team nods 鈥 has recorded 98 assists in 43 games.
鈥淚鈥檓 very pleased to have Cory back in our lineup this year,鈥 Shamrocks general manager Chris Welch said in a statement. 鈥淗e is an elite player in this sport, in the prime of his career.
鈥淎s his stats clearly illustrate, he is a very dangerous offensive weapon who possesses an unbelievable shot and some of the most creative playmaking skills I鈥檝e ever seen.鈥
The Shamrocks 鈥 who have won the last three WLA championships 鈥 will open camp on April 25 and begin their season on May 20 at home against Nanaimo.
