After a 2-0 start, Sarah Wark and her Victoria Curling Centre rink ran into a brick wall Wednesday night, losing to six-time provincial winner Kelly Scott at the Scotties sa¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½ Women’s Curling Championship.

Scott defeated Wark and her team of Simone Brosseau, second Michelle Allen and lead Rachelle Kallechy 7-3 in the evening draw at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex in Coquitlam.

Scott, of Kelowna, leads the eight-team event at 3-0 along with Karla Thompson of Kamloops, with Wark and Nanaimo’s Kesa Van Osch close behind at 2-1.

Wark opened with a wacky 9-7 extra-end win over Amy Gibson of the Royal City club on Tuesday night, jumping out to 5-0 lead after three and 7-2 advantage after six. Wark surrendered a deuce in the seventh then promptly gave up three straight steals of one each to force the 11th end when she ended it with a pair.

The Victoria rink also built up a healthy 7-1 lead after five ends on defending champion Patti Knezevic of Prince George before wrapping up a 9-6 win on Wednesday morning.

Van Osch — with sister Kalia Van Osch at third, second Shawna Jensen, lead Carley St. Blaze and alternate Marika Van Osch — lost her opener 5-4 to Knezevic before rebounding for a 7-5 win over Gibson on Wednesday morning.

In the evening draw, the Nanaimo rink scored two in the 10th end to edge Amanda Russett of Kamloops 5-4. Thompson stole one in the ninth end and two more in the 10th to defeat Knezevic 9-7 to remain perfect.

Draws continue today at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
