The Canadian team of Matthew Sharpe of Victoria, Desirae Ridenour of Cowichan Bay, Joanna Brown of Carp, Ont., and Tyler Mislawchuk of Oak Bluff, Man., placed seventh on Saturday in the mixed relay at the World Triathlon Series event in the Alberta capital.
It was the second time sa国际传媒 has placed seventh, in three mixed-relay qualifying races held so far for the 2020 Summer Games, where the event makes its Olympic debut.
The top-16 teams after the qualifying period will advance to the Tokyo Olympics, so it鈥檚 looking good so far for the Victoria-based Canadian team.
The rising 18-year-old Ridenour pulled sa国际传媒 into seventh place on the third leg, a placing fellow Islander Sharpe held on to during his gutsy anchor leg.
Brown led off for sa国际传媒.
鈥淚 love racing for sa国际传媒 and I knew I had a job to do today 鈥 to lead the team off the best I could,鈥 she said in a statement.
Brown, last year鈥檚 world No. 5, was a disappointing 23rd on Friday in the individual women鈥檚 race and used that as an incentive on Saurday: 鈥淚 gave myself some time to be mad yesterday and was super motivated to see what I could do today.鈥
Australia won the relay race with the Americans second and New Zealand third.
