The 20-year-old third and rinkmate Sanjay Bowry 鈥 who both hail from the Victoria Curling Centre 鈥 helped Langley skip Tyler Klymchuk defeat Tyler Tardi, also of Langley, 9-4 in the junior men鈥檚 final.

Lead Rhys Gamache of Tsawwassen rounds out the Klymchuk team, which is coached by Todd Troyer, also of the VCC. Troyer also mentored Josh Hozack to a sa国际传媒 junior crown last season with Chester at third.

鈥淭o have a second crack at it is really special. We鈥檙e looking forward to getting back,鈥 said Chester, whose second delivery in the second end killed off three Tardi stones to set up a huge four-ender for a 4-0 lead.

The team, which plays as a split Langley/VCC rink, never looked back.

鈥淭his was a perfect week for us, the guys played awesome,鈥 added Chester as the Klymchuk group went through the entire week undefeated. 鈥淎ll week we just executed our game plan and we feel good about our chances [at nationals].鈥

The Klymchuk rink is now off to Fort McMurray, Alta., for nationals Feb. 2-10.

Meanwhile, Nanaimo鈥檚 Kalia and Marika Van Osch鈥檚 shot at a second straight sa国际传媒 crown just slipped through their fingertips on Sunday afternoon.

Corryn Brown of Kamloops recorded a deuce in the ninth end and stole two in the final 10th to come up with a 7-4 victory in the junior women鈥檚 final.

The Van Osch girls had won last year鈥檚 title at the VCC with older sister Kesa at skip. Kalia took over the skipping duties this season with Marika at second, Victoria鈥檚 Carley Sandwith at third and lead Ashley Sanderson.

The Nanaimo rink was also hoping to return to the M&M Meat Shops nationals. Instead, it鈥檚 Brown who advances after earning a timely steal of two in the sixth end that broke open a 1-1 game.

Van Osch bounced back for a deuce of her own in the seventh and stole one in the eighth, but the outcome turned in the ninth and 10th ends at the Coquitlam Curling Club.

Van Osch had gone through the round-robin undefeated at 7-0 and downed Brown 10-5 in the first draw of the event.
