Victoria Grizzlies goaltender Kurtis Chapman, who had not allowed a goal in his previous two sa国际传媒 Hockey League games, carried the streak deep into the second period of Friday night鈥檚 6- 3victory in Coquitlam against the Express.

The skein ended when Juliano Santalucia of the Express scored on Chapman at 12:43 of the second period at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Centre.

Chapman needed only 20 saves for the victory Friday, while the Grizzlies put 35 shots on Express goaltender Clay Stevenson.

Chapman鈥檚 run followed a 5-0 victory over the Cowichan Valley Capitals that was preceded by a 6-0 clean sheet of the Nanaimo Clippers.

The last goal Chapman had allowed, before Santalucia鈥檚, was at 6:30 of the third period in a 5-2 victory over the Trail Smoke Eaters.

All told, Chapman had clocked 160 minutes and 17 seconds of shutout play.

The Island Division-leading Grizzlies (16-7-1) topped an improved Express club that fell to 15-8-1.

A tough road trip for the Grizzlies will continue tonight in Penticton against the Interior Division-leading Vees (14-7-3) and Sunday in Vernon against the Vipers (9-8-8).

Grizzlies forward Alex Newhook, projected for the first round of the 2019 NHL draft, picked up an assist and has 36 points in 24 games. Alex Campbell, cited by Central Scouting for the latter rounds of the 2019 NHL draft, scored a goal on a two-point night for the Grizzlies.

New York Rangers draft pick Riley Hughes scored twice for Victoria and Henri Schreifels, Ryan Noland and Marty Westhaver once each.

The Grizzlies return to the Island to meet the Bulldogs in Port Alberni next Friday before playing the Nanaimo Clippers the following night in the Q Centre.t
