The Victoria HarbourCats continued bolstering their roster for the 2017 West Coast League baseball season by signing returning infielder Wyatt Young of the Pepperdine Wave and Pac-12 left-handed pitchers A.J. Block and James Mullins from the Washington State Cougars.
Young, an incoming Waves freshman, began the 2016 WCL season with the HarbourCats on a 10-day contract and played seven games last year in Victoria, hitting .250 with a double, three RBIs and a stolen base. Young, also strong on defence, was the youngest player in the WCL last season at 16 years old.
The six-foot-five Block was drafted in the 39th round of the 2016 MLB draft by the Chicago Cubs. Mullins is also a lefty entering the Cougars’ NCAA program in Pullman as a freshman.
The HarbourCats open the season June 1 in Port Angeles against the Lefties. The first home date is June 5 at Royal Athletic Park against the Wenatchee AppleSox.
