The Victoria HarbourCats’ offence was hitting on all pistons Tuesday night across the strait.
Harrison Spohn had three hits, Nick Adams two hits and three RBIs, Griffin Paxton three hits and an RBI and Gus Wilson two hits and two RBIs as the HarbourCats pounded the Port Angeles Lefties 15-3 in West Coast League baseball action in Washington state.
Victoria starter Hunter Omlid went five innings and gave up four hits while striking out three.
The ’Cats are closing out the regular season with six-consecutive games against the Lefties, continuing tonight and Thursday in Port Angeles. The marathon concludes with three games at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park beginning Friday.
The HarbourCats (16-6 second half and 34-15 overall) won the North Division first-half title and playoff berth that goes with it. Victoria will start the best-of-three North playoff final Aug. 13 on the road against an opponent to be determined. The second game is Aug. 14 at Royal Athletic Park and third game also in Victoria if needed on Aug. 15.
The Lefties (12-10 in the second half) are in the hunt to be the North Division playoff opponent for Victoria, but Port Angeles’ hopes are fading fast, as it trailed the Wenatchee AppleSox by three games in the second-half race heading into Tuesday night.
