The Victoria HarbourCats won鈥檛 see the Wenatchee AppleSox again this season, unless they meet in the West Coast League playoffs.

So the HarbourCats were determined to leave an impression in the series finale at Paul Thomas Stadium in Wenatchee on Saturday, and they did just that. The HarbourCats snapped a three-game losing streak to the AppleSox with a 5-3 victory. In a quirk in the schedule, the HarbourCats (5-5) and AppleSox (4-5) met for sixth straight time and won鈥檛 meet again the rest of the regular season.

On Saturday, the HarbourCats used one giant swing from outfielder Jake Garella and a solid night from the bullpen to get back in the win column. Garella, from St. Louis University, hit a grand slam in the top of the second inning off AppleSox starter Gerald Hein. It put the HarbourCats up 4-0 and they never looked back.

Ethan Fox, out of Douglas College, started for Victoria and went four innings, giving up two runs. Then the bullpen went to work. Luke Boyd went 22脷3 innings giving up one run, before he was spelled by A.J. Block who got the final out of the seventh with the bases loaded. Travis Kuhn out of San Diego State then held the AppleSox to one hit in the eighth and ninth to secure the victory.

Catcher Bryce Bonner continued to swing a hot bat for Victoria as he finished 3-for-4 at the plate.

Hein went seven innings, giving up four earned runs in taking the loss.

After an off day today, the HarbourCats return to Royal Athletic Park on Monday to start a two-game set with the Port Angeles Lefties.
